My goals were to finish and submit my BPA piece, and to start working on illustration.
I finished my BPA piece, and began a traditional portrait study sketch on Thursday which I’m moving to digital to make a more abstract illustration out of it.
Mostly time, but also when I came in on Wednesday to submit my BPA piece, my export file that I spent a few hours on the night before didn’t transfer on cloud or on my flash drive for some reason.
With time, I just had to stay up later than usual, but when it came to the export, I had to search through my files and recreate the video in Procreate using Audition files and MP3 and MP4, then re-exported, it was pretty difficult to locate it all, but it worked out in the end, thankfully.
Finish a couple more illustrations, and start working on some animation studies to practice character motion.
BPA, and some illustration.

Illustration study sketching:

To start wrapping up on my BPA piece.
I was able to knock out 90% of my character animations, and by cleaning up small things about backgrounds.
I struggled a bit when it came to understanding the use of the camera layer, and to find a solid but simple character design (specifically with faces).
I wasn’t able to really utilize the camera layer, but for the scene I wanted to use something like that, I was able to transform a group of layers and just enlarge it frame by frame to zoom in. I also used a max of two or three colors to block out simple faces that translate without taking ages.
Most of my work is going to happen during the weekend on my BPA piece, I’m just finalizing the video and extending it to fit around my audio. By Monday I want to be 99% done, and to have most all my focus on cleaning up things and rendering to export the final video file.
I focused entirely on my BPA project.
(Some of the layers at the end are a bit messy/wrongly timed because I haven’t gone back to the end to clean frames up).

My goals this week were to continue powering through my BPA animations, and to try and work at least an hour on a personal digital illustration (it’s been too long).
I managed to finish constructing all of my background animations and to at least start the line art for a digital portrait.
I didn’t have any significant issues this week, the most I struggled with was a lack of sleep that made it a bit harder to focus as much as I could on my projects.
I did try to get better sleep, I think it helped some, but it’s just a reality of midterms and working on such a large project to feel burnt out.
Outside of my main focus, which inevitably will be midterms, my next steps in my animation will be cleaning up the backgrounds and smoothing out transitions and I’ll finally be able to move on to character animations.

Personal illustration progress:

I planned to focus in on animating my BPA video, and on editing my BPA audio. What did you achieve this week in terms of your goals?
I was able to finish animating the props in the first scene, created 2 more backgrounds, and started building up 2 additional backgrounds.
I lost some time to work because I was out sick on Wednesday, and was unable to achieve any audio editing because I ended up fixating on animating my video.
I wasn’t really able to, as it was more so an issue of timing, but in future weeks I plan to keep more to my schedule and push myself to edit my audio instead of spending all my hours on animating, as much as I would like to.
I plan to work solely on animating my BPA video and knocking out as much of that as possible, and also want to take some time working on my personal digital paintings.
I worked on my BPA competition piece, focusing in on animating the video.
Progress:

I’ve been working solely on my BPA piece, and my goals were to finish my storyboarding, write my script, record my audio and refine background animations.
I finished my storyboards, wrote my script, and got 98% of the way done with my biggest background animation.
I wasn’t able to get my audio recorded as early as I had planned to (Wednesday) because we had our lockdown drill/presentation and our guest speaker come in. I also struggled to get my background animation to flow as smoothly as I would’ve liked from frame to frame. Lastly, I wish I got further along in the background animations than I had.
For the audio part, I just have to get it recorded today on Thursday instead, and probably edit it over the weekend. For the animation, I added a couple of tweens and extra frames. With time issues on getting everything animated, I’m planning on extending the time I spend working to home, and to try and not over complicate things.
Definitely to finish background animations, and start on the character animations. If I have time, I really want to spend a little more time on personal illustration projects that I’ve had to set aside for the past few months for the sake of time management.
I only focused on working on my BPA competition piece.
