Overall, color has definitely had an impact on endless parts of my life – constantly being subject to branding, experiencing nature and art, and even just learning about color using emotions in elementary school. However, when I was in the fourth grade, my bedroom was completely sky blue, from the walls to the blankets. As a young kid, I didn’t have the same kind of coping abilities regarding my anxiety disorder, so in retrospect it makes sense that I would surround myself constantly with blue. Blue is said to have a very calming, secure effect on the mind. Back then, I just chalked it up to being my favorite color, but now it makes a lot more sense. Today, I surround myself with red more than blue, which also adds up – red is empowering, and I often feel critical and conscious of myself. Color definitely has its own odd effects on the mind, and overall, in my experiences, is a great way to subconsciously redirect emotions or mental struggles.
