YNA Week March 9th-13th

  • What were your goals for this week for career pathways?

My goals for this week were to finish the cut outs of character poses and backgrounds, and to begin shooting the video.

  • What did you achieve this week in terms of your goals?

I was only able to get 3/4ths of the backgrounds done, and finished the characters — I didn’t start shooting the video.

  • What problems did you have?

I didn’t anticipate how time-consuming it would be to make the stop motion out of paper.

  • How did you fix those problems?

I wasn’t necessarily able to, if I were to do it over again I would probably do better time management.

  • What are your plans for next week?

To do whatever is assigned to us during COVID, and outside of that passion projects like illustration and animation.

  • What project(s) did you work on this week?

I worked on my stop motion project.

  • Visual proof?

YNA Week March 2nd – 6th

  • What did you accomplish/learn this week?

I finished my governor’s showpiece, storyboarded and scripted my stop motion, and began creating the cut outs of my stop motion character.

  • What setbacks did you have and how did you overcome them?

The one setback I had was issues with my frame for my governor’s show drawing. The first frame was too thin and was supposed to snap on in four places. I fixed the issue with the help of my relatives, I had to be late to class unfortunately but we picked up a better frame in the morning.

  • What are your plans for next week?

Over today, Friday, and the weekend I will cut out most of the stop motion pieces and finish that on Monday. Wednesday – Friday I will shoot the stop motion — not Tuesday, I have ACT testing for Hayes.

  • Visual evidence?

Online Assignment, March 4th 2020, Stop Motion Project

1) I have already finished my storyboards for the project so far.

2) Most of my brainstorming was done in my head, but I did create a reference for my bird character based on real parakeets:

3) My storyboard from before, and the script I wrote:

4) I went out to buy lots of construction paper, but couldn’t until 9PM, which is why I posted so late! Here are the characters I began cutting out that will be the bird’s different poses:

5) Watched the videos! I found the first really interesting, I had no idea how diverse stop motion can be, or of its great impact on live action film. With the second, I was again just super bewildered with the progress and history behind it all.

6) 1. I did not know that one form of stop motion can be using paper, which is what I decided to use for my project.

2. I did not know that for large production claymation films, the figures they used (like in Paranorman) were so enormous — I’d always imagined them to be only a foot tall, at most.

3. I would’ve never thought to incorporate a green screen aspect in stop motion, like with Hayden Reed’s piece — that was actually really interesting to me.

YNA Feb. 18-21

  • What did you create this week?

I researched the governor’s show, made a concept/mock-up for it, sketched some, did the contrast photoshoot and prepared some materials for my BPA presentation.

  • What problems did you have and how did you overcome them?

I didn’t have any real problems this week.

  • What are your goals for next week?

Mostly BPA and the governor’s show.

YNA February 10th-14th

  • Please post a screenshot of your front end web design you made with Dub.
  • Please post a screenshot of your current portfolio website.
  • Post a screenshot of your Codecademy.
  • What were your goals for this week for career pathways?

My goals were to work on my portfolio website, photography assignment, look into the governor’s show and maybe get around to my passion projects if I had time.

  • What did you achieve this week in terms of your goals?

I was able to finish the photography assignment, get some of my portfolio website edited, and research the governor’s show. I have a few ideas for the show I’ve been thinking through, but have yet to do thumbnails of.

  • What problems did you have?

I had issues with the CSS code for the portfolio website and with arranging and exporting my contact sheet. I was also set back a little bit, having to be home Tuesday for a family medical emergency.

  • How did you fix those problems?

I asked a classmate about the contact sheet, and was able to get guidance and successfully export it. With the CSS code, I couldn’t really fix it, but G came in this morning about the CSS code, so it should work out from now on.

  • What are your plans for next week?

My plans are to begin thumbnailing for the governor’s show, coding the portfolio website, and any other passion projects I put aside if I finish those on time.

  • What project(s) did you work on this week?

I worked on the repetition photo shoot and my portfolio website.

  • Visual proof?
